"every mortal being
is destined to
dwell in the sphere it was born in.
interrupting the cycle of creation
brings the wrath of gods upon the
wrongdoer and its descendants"
("The Legend")
FOREWORD
Heīs been trying really hard. His name is Christian and actually heīs been
trying to complete his first book about love, philosophy and ...The Legend.... By now
Christian has written approximately half of it and he canīt quite explain why itīs
taking him so long to finish it. Usually he blames it on the "lack of time" or
the constant daydreaming about becoming rich, famous and the laureate of Nobel Prize. But
deep down inside he knows the real reason. Heīs scared. Heīs scared because the main
character of the book is starting to resemble him, the writer, more and more. Christianīs
practically writing his own story. And he knows the ending....
| LAZY SUN |
|
| Christianīs sitting on the beach and writing his book. Itīs pure
fiction. Probably he just wanted to write some utterly beautiful epic fairytale because he
was fed up with the hyperreal urbanism around him. The novel is about a mermaid called Lia
who wants to get away from the sea, to live on the earth. She has heard about the old
legend and the spheres (humans call them elements) but she tries it nevertheless. The only
thing Christian canīt figure out about Lia is why would anybody want to exchange the sea
for the cities, the rush and stress. Lately he has become absolutely tired of other
people, friends and enemies, the insignificance of everyday life. But he has fallen
monstrously in love with water:he loves the ocean, intimately, without reservations. The
sound of waves, the air and the awesome power of liquid. |

Christians dreaming about it every night. The weird connection to
the sea he cant explain. Its almost like a love affair. The Pathological need
of closeness to the water. He goes on his parents yacht to finish the novel. In the
beginning everything is just fine. Lia becomes a successful bank accountant thanks to her
gorgeous looks and the spell-like charm he seems to have on people. But shes
dreaming about the sea as well. Then everything starts to go wrong. Christian cant
sleep anymore, hes just staying up for nights, looking at the tide and the
reflection of moon in it. Around that time he finds his mothers old diaries where it
says that Christian was actually born in water, his mother giving birth to him while
washing herself in the sea. Christian realises suddenly the real reason of his obsession.
The Legend has turned against him, he must return to the sphere he was born in. The book
has become true. After having made a successful career on earth, Lia drowns in the bath at
some executive party, loaded on cocaine. |

Christians last minutes in the water. The feeling of unique
completeness and absolute belonging, although he knows he has got less than five minutes
to live.
It feels like coming home.
Thats the way it has to be. |
